What is the project about?

This research is being conducted by Lisa Smithstead and Elain Price, Senior Lecturers in Film Studies at Swansea University.

Elain and Lisa both research age and cinema / TV culture in Wales. Their focus group work is part of a larger research project about the how cinema culture has changed in the last decade in its representation of older women, and its appeal to older women audiences.

They hope to speak with women across Wales to gain new insight into what cinema means to them, what would make cinema more appealing for women over 50, and what kinds of stars and celebrities make an impact on older women audiences.
